Field Note 000: Same build, two yards
The plan for how outdoor builds get tested: one yard in Southern California, one in Ghana, and three bins for every lesson.
This is the first field note, and it is a plan. Nothing has been built yet. Nerdsquatch would like that written at the top, in large letters, next to the safety glasses.
Here is the idea. A build that works on a clean bench has proven very little. So each outdoor build gets installed twice: once in a test yard in Southern California, once in a test yard in Ghana. Same plan. Same parts where possible.
Then every lesson gets sorted. Universal lessons are true anywhere: sensor placement, calibration, sealing, reading the data. Geographic lessons change with climate and infrastructure: heat, humidity, rain, dust, solar yield, mobile coverage, what parts you can buy locally. Rules lessons change with regulation: radio rules, drone permissions, import duties, data protection, water rights.
No lessons have been logged yet, because no build has been installed yet. Numbers go here after the first season.
